Fire Shock With Me: S2E04

“MIKE Drop”

In July of 2024, Cinema Shock began a series of episodes deep diving into the filmography of David Lynch. But no discussion of Lynch’s work and career is complete without including his most widely seen project, Twin Peaks, the TV series he co-created with Mark Frost, which originally aired on ABC for two seasons in 1990 and 1991.

In this bonus series, available exclusively to members of CinemaShock+, we’re watching through Twin Peaks in its entirety. All three hosts have varying degrees of exposure to the series, with Todd Davis being a first-time viewer. So this series is designed not only for seasoned Twin Peaks fans, but also for those watching for the first time. There will be no spoilers for future episodes — only for the ones being discussed.

In this episode of Fire Shock With Me, we’re covering Twin Peaks Season 2, Episodes 5 and 6: “The Orchid’s Curse” and “Demons.” Cooper and Truman bust Audrey out of One Eyed Jack’s in full action-hero mode, while Donna straight-up crawls through a flower bed to steal Laura’s diary from Harold — who does not take it well. Nadine returns home with the strength (and mindset) of a high school cheerleader, and Leland is formally charged with murder… right before bursting into song. But the real showstopper? The one-armed man, MIKE, delivers one of the series’ most intense mythology drops to date — and absolutely unhinges the room.
